I truly believed I had two left feet. But I’d read that social dancing is one of the best exercises for mental health, so my curiosity overcame my self-doubt. When I took my first ballroom dance class with Brandee, I was intimidated being in a group social situation where I thought my clumsiness would be seen by all.
Fortunately, Brandee’s classes are very beginner friendly. She creates a welcoming atmosphere in which I’ve not only learned to move to the rhythm of the music and communicate clearly with a dance partner, but also have overcome much of my self-consciousness. And one of the best things about ballroom dance is the dancers—I’ve made so many new friends!
